Jackson Library Spaces

The Libraries provide options for quiet and group work and technologies to assist with work, collaboration, and digital project creation. Some spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis while others are reservable by UNCG students, faculty, and staff. Wireless connection is available in most spaces.

Reserve Spaces

Reservable Spaces are available for UNCG students, faculty, and staff. UNCG computing credentials are required to make reservations.

Small Student Study Rooms are available on Tower floors 2, 3, 5 and 6. Rooms on Tower floor 2 contain PCs with double monitors while those on floors 3, 5 and 6 are bring your own equipment.

Medium Group Spaces are available on Tower floors 2, 3 and 4. Spaces on floors 2 and 3 include flat-screen monitors with HDMI cords. All of these spaces are bring your own equipment.

Large Group Spaces are available on Tower floors 2, 3 and 9. The spaces on floors 2 and 3 include flat-screen monitors with HDMI cords. All of these spaces are bring your own equipment.

The DMC rooms and equipment are available to reserve for digital project creation.

Digital Media Commons (DMC)

Located in the lower level of Jackson Library, the DMC provides the space and resources for UNCG students, faculty, and staff to create and refine their multimedia projects. The DMC also supports the creation of digital media projects with equipment lending and studio/workspaces including the reservable DMC Via Lab and Media Rooms.

Spartan Study Space (evening hours)

Unless library hours exceptions apply, the Jackson Library Tower is open to UNCG students, faculty, and staff only from 9:00pm – 1:00am, Sun–Thu. To enter, re-enter, or remain in the Library, each individual must have a SpartanCard. Access is by card tap at the EUC-Library Connector entrance facing the Walker Ave. traffic circle. Please note that the 6-Tech Service Center/SuperLab may have different hours and closing times.

Quiet Study Spaces

Tower floors 6-9 are designated as quiet study floors. They offer whiteboards, tables, booths, carrels, and other seating conducive to quiet study on a first come, first served basis. There should be no group study or loud conversations; cell phone ringers should be turned off, and headphones turned down. Small Student Study Rooms without PCs are available to reserve on the 6th floor.

Group Study Areas

Tower floors 2-5, the lower level Tower elevator lobby, and the Jackson Library Information Commons, CitiLab, Reading Room, and Reference Room located on the first floor are designated as group study areas. They offer whiteboards, tables, carrels, and other seating conducive to group study along with PCs with a mix of double and wide screen monitors. All spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. The CitiLab, containing PCs, is open for individual use when not being used for classes. Many Small, Medium, and Large group study spaces are available to reserve on several floors in the Tower.
