Reclaiming Powerful Literacies

This book focuses on literacy as a practice in hope, transformation, and liberation. Rogers frames the book around critical discourse studies and then provides chapters illustrating those theories in action - in real classrooms. As a teacher educator, I hope that pre and inservice teachers leave my classroom with the belief that literacy is transformative so that they pass that onto their students. This book, then, has been a powerful teaching and learning tool for me, especially as students tackle with the messiness of putting theory into action in their own classrooms.
