This building, originally called the Science Building, was designed by O’Brien/Atkins Associates of Durham, North Carolina, and Ellenzweig Associates of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was opened in 2003. On April 10, 2008, the building was named in honor of Patricia A. Sullivan.

The Sullivan Science Building is named in honor of Patricia A. Sullivan, chancellor from 1995 to 2008. She had previously been vice president for academic affairs and interim president of the Texas Woman’s University.
