Driving Directions & Visiting the University Libraries

UNCG is located just west of downtown. Easy access to the campus is available from Interstates 85, 40, and 73 and federal routes 29, 70, 220, and 421.

The University is served by several Greensboro Transit Authority bus routes. We encourage you to take advantage of public transportation in order to reduce your impact on the environment as well as your frustration with traffic and parking. Driving Directions

Greensboro is served by Piedmont Triad International Airport (code GSO), Amtrak, and inter-city bus lines (including Greyhound/Trailways and PART). You can obtain customized driving directions from your door to campus from AAA, Bing, Google Maps, and Mapquest.

Within Greensboro
UNCG's main campus is bounded by W Market St on the north, Oakland Ave on the south, S Josephine Boyd St on the west, and S Tate St on the east. Spring Garden St bisects the south side of campus. Entrance to the Library is via the EUC-Library Connector (faces the Walker Ave parking deck and is accessible to all visitors) or the front portico (faces College Ave, a pedestrian thoroughfare that's just off Spring Garden St).
From the west (I-40 and US-421)
including Winston-Salem, Hickory, and Asheville
Enter Greensboro on I-40 east-bound/US-421 south-bound; take the W Wendover Ave east-bound exit (214 B); turn right at the top of the ramp onto W Wendover Ave; proceed east on W Wendover Ave through several traffic lights; just after the traffic light at Clifton Rd, exit onto Spring Garden St east-bound; proceed a few miles on Spring Garden St; after the traffic light at S Josephine Boyd St, you'll be on campus; turn left onto Stirling St to access the Walker Ave Parking Deck; you'll see the back of the Library's tall, white tower wing to your right.
From the southwest (I-85)
including High Point, Lexington, Salisbury, and Charlotte
Enter Greensboro on I-85 north-bound; exit onto I-85 Business (exit 120); take the Holden Rd exit (old exit 121); turn left at the end of the ramp onto S Holden Rd; proceed north about 4 miles (6 kms); turn right at the traffic light onto Spring Garden St; after the traffic light at S Josephine Boyd St, you'll be on campus; turn left onto Stirling St to access the Walker Ave Parking Deck; you'll see the back of the Library's tall, white tower wing to your right.
From the south (I-73 and US-220)
including Asheboro and Rockingham
Enter Greensboro on I-73/US-220 north-bound; continue north past I-85, I-85 Business, and I-40 onto Freeman Mill Rd where I-73/US-220 splits off; turn left at the traffic light onto Coliseum Blvd; proceed past the coliseum and through the traffic light at W Lee St; turn right at the traffic light onto Spring Garden St; after the traffic light at S Josephine Boyd St, you'll be on campus; turn left onto Stirling St to access the Walker Ave Parking Deck; you'll see the back of the Library's tall, white tower wing to your right.

Enter Greensboro on I-85/I-40 south-/west-bound; exit onto I-85 Business/I-40 south-/west-bound (exit 131); take the S Elm-Eugene St exit (exit 37, old exit 125); at the top of the ramp, turn right; follow S Elm-Eugene St; continue on S Eugene St past the split with S Elm St; turn left at the traffic light onto W Lee St; turn right at the traffic light onto S Tate St; turn left at the next traffic light onto Spring Garden St; turn right onto Stirling St to access the Walker Ave Parking Deck; you'll see the back of the Library's tall, white tower wing to your right.

Enter Greensboro on US-220 south-bound, (Battleground Ave); follow Battleground Ave about 4 miles (6 kms) from the intersection with Cotswold Ave through several traffic lights; go through the traffic light at Cornwallis Dr, staying in the right lane; exit off of Battleground Ave onto Westover Terr (Go straight ahead rather than bearing left.); continue on Westover Terr south-bound; Westover Terr becomes N Josephine Boyd St at the intersection with Benjamin Pkwy; proceed on N Josephine Boyd St under W Market St (where N Josephine Boyd St becomes S Josephine Boyd St); stay in the left lane; turn left at the traffic light onto Walker Ave; access to the Walker Ave Parking Deck will be on your right just as you pass Kenilworth St; you'll see the back of the Library's tall, white tower wing directly in front of you.

Parking at the University

Visitors may park in any University parking deck and pay an hourly rate; the Walker Ave parking deck is closest to the Library. Metered parking is available on some campus streets (blue signs) and in the surface lot between the Stone Building and S Tate St. A limited amount of free parking is available on some city streets (green signs) surrounding the Library, including Stirling St, Walker Ave, and S Tate St. The University has jurisdiction to enforce parking regulations on campus and city streets that run through or adjacent to campus and vigilantly issues citations, tows, and/or immobilizes illegally-parked cars. Finding the Library

The Library is located between Elliott University Center (south of the Library) and the Dining Hall (north of the Library). Enter the Library from the west through the EUC-Library Connector (which faces the Walker Ave parking deck and is accessible to all visitors) or from the east through the front portico (which faces College Ave).

To access the Library from the Walker Ave parking deck, exit on level three at Stirling St. Turn left on Stirling St and continue to Walker Ave. Turn right at Walker Ave, and walk toward the Library; you'll see the tall, white tower wing of the Library directly in front of you. Where Walker Ave ends in a cul-de-sac, bear right and enter the EUC-Library Connector. Inside the connector, turn left and follow the ramp or steps down to enter the Library at the Access Services (Circulation) Desk.
