The Whitsett Student features a collection of original writings by students of the Whitsett Academy. This 1898 issue also features notes and comments of the mathematics department by Professor J. M. Bandy. Includes a half-page advertisement for the North Carolina Teacher’s Assembly of which Dr. W. T. Whitsett served as secretary and treasurer. The next to last page includes advertisements for Whitsett businesses.

The publication includes an overview of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a section on the government, a reverse street look up, a racially-segregated population directory, a business directory, and an advertisement for the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College.
