For this week’s Renovation Review update, we’re bringing you a brand-new image of what the Jackson Library tower will look like in the future! Several of the original “alternate” tower designs (essentially a wish-list) have been approved for construction, which is fantastic news. As you can see in the rendering below, the western-facing side of the tower of Jackson Library will have several large windows added to alternating floors spread across the facade of the building. This is in keeping with our commitment to a more open, natural-feeling space for our library users; we are also adding windows in other places throughout the building (more on those updates to come!). Eagle-eyed followers of the project will notice that there are plans for at least eight new trees outside of the (also new!) Walker Avenue entrance, which will replace several that had to be removed early on in the construction process. We are excited to bring you this news. Next week is Fall Break for UNCG’s campus, so we’ll be taking the week off from the blog. But we look forward to bringing you more exciting updates in the very near future!
