On May 27th, UNCG University Libraries hosted the 12th annual Triad Academic Library Association (TALA) Conference in the School of Education Building. TALA was established in 2006 as a membership network of academic libraries in the North Carolina piedmont region that are committed to reciprocal resource sharing for students, staff, and faculty. Since it was first hosted in 2014, the TALA Conference has become a yearly event that UNCG and other area library employees look forward to.
This year’s conference welcomed over 80 library staff and faculty to learn about a variety of topics including mental health, space development, and innovative student engagement. This year’s keynote speaker was Wake Forest University Library Dean Lauren Pressley who touched upon the uniqueness of libraries creating a space for belonging, learning, and care. Conference attendees also had an opportunity to network with each other and share new ideas and thoughts.
