Two University Libraries departments now have new names that align more closely with the services and support that they provide.
Collections & Discovery (C&D) Department
Formerly known as the Technical Services Department, the Collections & Discovery (C&D) Department supports the UNCG community by providing access to the University Libraries collections and resources.
The Acquisitions & Electronic Resources team purchases books, ebooks, music scores, digital archive collections, media, and other requested resources in support of learning, teaching, and research. The team negotiates licenses and maintains subscriptions for ejournals, databases, and streaming platforms. Eresource troubleshooting is available at erhelp@uncg.edu.
The Cataloging & Metadata team ensures that every resource in the collection is accurately described and discoverable in the Library Catalog, creates metadata for our digital collections, and maintains the knowledge base of electronic resource content.
The Scholarly Communications team provides support and education to assist campus authors with publishing and sharing their scholarly work. The team manages the open access institutional repository, NC DOCKS, to collect, preserve, and disseminate the scholarly and creative works of UNCG’s faculty, staff, students, and other researchers.
Through resource sharing among libraries, the Interlibrary Loan team provides requested materials, including ejournal articles, ebook chapters, and physical items, that are not held in our collection.
Digital Scholarship & Technology (DST)
Formerly known as the Electronic Resources & Information Technology Department, the Digital Scholarship & Technology (DST) Department includes four restructured services and support teams: ILS & Website, Digital Collections, Digital Scholarship, and Technology Support.
The ILS & Website team supports all aspects of the integrated library platform, the centralized, cloud-based application that manages all library core operations and inventory using a single shared database. This team also oversees all aspects of the University Libraries’ website.
The Digital Collections team creates, delivers, and preserves library, university, and community digital collections, primarily made available on Digital Greensboro. The team also manages library statistical gathering, reporting, normalization, and visualizations.
The Digital Scholarship team supports library and faculty digital scholarship initiatives, including custom database and website development. This team developed and continues to support the Digital Library on American Slavery, an expanding resource compiling independent collections focused upon race and slavery in the American South, made searchable through a single, simple interface.
The Technology Support team manages all employee and library user technology resources within the University Libraries, in conjunction with UNCG Information Technology Services.
