Those who have walked by the Main Library recently may have noticed that glass panes are now in place in the new large windows on the west side of the tower. This week we’re giving readers a look at the interior view of those windows. The image below, taken just this morning on the eighth floor, shows the newly installed panes. One very common remark about why users have historically enjoyed studying in the tower relates to the beautiful views of campus available from the north and south sides of the building. These new windows on the west side will allow even more library users to enjoy the beauty of UNCG’s campus, particularly during the afternoon hours as the sun sets. A large window is also being installed on the east side of the tower on the ninth floor, and views from that angle are coming soon. The fritted glass of each pane has features which will help to prevent birds from colliding with the windows by increasing visibility using a dotted pattern. We look forward to enjoying these spaces with the UNCG community very soon!
