One of the next steps in the renovation process is to get started on landscaping outside of the library tower. In order to do this safely and effectively, the Rawk, an iconic boulder on campus, has recently been relocated.
Construction crews used a crane to shift the 12.7 ton Rawk from its usual location next to the tower across the small service road. It now rests less than 100 feet from where it sat since 1987 and can be found at the top of the hill near the Moran Commons and Plaza.
According to UNCG Magazine, The Rawk was purchased for just $31.78. It is a message board for the campus and has been painted thousands of times to mark different occasions and events. We invite readers to learn more about this campus landmark here.
