Petition #20586202

Abstract

Daniel B. Coppleman, "Sheriff and ex officio administrator of the Estate of Munro Bullock, intestate" informs the court that said Bullock died with only one slave in his estate. The petitioner states that "no distribution of said estate can be fairly made among the heirs at law, four in number and minors without the sale of said slave." Coppleman further cautions that "the dangers of war which threaten the State make it expedient for the safety of such property that said slave be exposed to sale." He therefore prays that an order for the sale of the twenty-year-old slave be decreed.
