Commencement speaker Senator George McGovern called for an end to the Vietnam War.

Moore Building (School of Nursing) opened. In 1976, it was named for Margaret Catherine Moore, a member of the class of 1935 and original faculty member of the School of Nursing.

Students participated in peace marches and supported a strike by campus food service workers.

November - The College of Arts and Sciences was formed.

The International House was organized in Shaw Residence Hall.

The Pixie Playhouse was renamed the Pixie Theatre for Young People.

The high school portion of Curry School - ninth through tenth grades - was phased out.
