Earlier this summer, the University Libraries announced the winners of its annual Staff and Faculty Awards. These awards are designed to recognize outstanding achievements in service, inclusion and accessibility, research, teaching, advocacy and outreach, and general excellence.
This year’s winners are listed alphabetically as follows.
- Staff Excellence Award: Brown Biggers (Information Technology Operations Manager)
- In recognition of going above and beyond, both within and outside of job duties, to further the mission, values, and goals of the University Libraries.
- Staff Inclusion and Accessibility Excellence Award: Marcus Girardeau (Technology Support Technician)
- In recognition of exceptional commitment to implementing the values of inclusion and accessibility at the UNCG University Libraries.
- Faculty Research Award: David Gwynn (Associate Professor and Digitization Coordinator)
- In recognition of scholarly achievement that advances the University goals of collaborative scholarship and creative activity.
- Faculty Inclusive Excellence in Advocacy and Outreach Award: Tiffany Henry (Associate Professor and Discovery Cataloger)
- In recognition of outstanding advocacy for inclusion and accessibility on behalf of the University Libraries by demonstrating commitment to community needs.
- Staff Outstanding Service Award: Katherine Nunnally (Multiformats Cataloging Technician)
- In recognition of excellent service provided to both patrons and colleagues.
- Faculty Teaching Award: Kathelene Smith (Associate Professor and Head of the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives)
- In recognition of recent and excellent contributions in teaching, instruction, and information literacy in support of the teaching mission of the university.
