CRITERIA AND PROCESS FOR TITLES SELECTED FOR GROUP PURCHASE

At the end of each year, the Efficiencies Working Group gathers and analyzes system-wide usage data and distributes it to the participating schools. Each school then has two weeks to select up to 5 titles for group purchase. This ensures that each participant is guaranteed the opportunity to purchase the titles of most relevance to their own students and faculty. The Working Group then uses three factors to identify titles to be purchased with the remaining funds. Those factors are total usage of each title, number of different schools that used a given title, and each title’s cost. Because we are identifying titles for group purchase, titles used by only a single school are excluded from the formula selection process. For most shared ebook deals, about 90% of the title purchases are made via the formula.
