Observers may have noticed a new structure being built onto the side of Jackson Library’s tower. This is related to the construction of “The Perch,” a new study space on the second floor of the tower. The space is specifically designed to showcase the natural beauty of UNCG’s campus from inside the renovated library space. A major focus throughout the renovation process has been on increasing the amount of natural light that comes into Jackson Library, and “The Perch” is an important new development. Once the steel frame has been completed, a roof, flooring, and glass will be added. We are excited to be able to share information about this space, which will be a beautiful addition to the west side of the tower. You can see the steel framing work below as well as two renderings showing what the space will look like in the future.
