David S. and Jane B. Richardson Kaufman, the parents of four-year-old Daniel Richardson Kaufman, petition the legislature to change the name of their son "permanently to Daniel Kaufman Richardson." They state that the reasons for changing the child’s name "will be found in the will of his deceased Grandfather," Daniel Long Richardson, who mandated that said child would not receive his one-twelfth share of the estate unless his “name is permanently changed by the Legislature.”
