Petition #11584110

Abstract

Henry Lynch, a free person of color, came from Alabama to Texas in 1838. He states that he has acquired the "good opinion of the citizens" and that "he is desirous now of remaining in the country & promises to behave himself as becomes his condition in life." If his request to remain in Texas indefinitely is denied, however, Lynch asks that he be allowed to stay for a year in order to collect his debts. The petitioner agrees "to enter into bond for his good behavior and to comply with the requisitions of the law."
