Abstract
Mary, a woman of color, avows "that she is entitled to be free and is unjustly held in slavery by a certain Otho Sprigg," the administrator of the estate of the late Thomas Sprigg. The petitioner claims her freedom based on the fact that she was brought into Maryland contrary to the "Laws and Statutes of said State." She requests the opportunity to present her case.
Result: Granted; appealed; reversed; remanded.
