In this supplemental bill, Susan M. Wray repeats many of the arguments she has previously put forth in her answer to her husband's 1848 petition for divorce: her husband, Albert Wray, is a man of wealth worth perhaps fifty thousand dollars; he owns a large number of slaves, and has the means to provide her with added support although he refuses to do so. But now, she explains, she has been committed to a lunatic asylum in Columbia, South Carolina, suffering from paroxysms of derangement. She needs her husband's financial assistance immediately and asks the court to "decree further allowances."
