Abstract

Phillip Sligh represents that his slave Moses was convicted on 17 October 1829 and executed 27 November 1829 for assaulting and attempting to murder a white man named Andrew Cromer. He therefore prays "that he may be compensated for the said negro slave Moses that has been executed as aforesaid." The court cites that "the said negro man slave Moses was worth over the value of one hundred and thirty two dollars and forty cents."
