While the Jackson Library Tower remains closed for Phase 1 of the library renovation:
- The red brick side of Jackson Library facing College Ave. is open. The Checkout Desk, including the print reserve collection, is located on the first floor directly across from the College Ave. entrance.
- The print collection shelved in the Jackson tower, i.e., in any catalog location containing the words “Jackson Library Stacks,” is boxed, stored in an off-site warehouse, and not currently retrievable.
- Collections located in other catalog locations (such as “Storage – Ask at Check Out Desk” and “Jackson Library Instructional Film Collection-Ask at Check Out Desk”) remain available.
- Personally owned materials continue to be accepted.
- You are encouraged to place orders for new print materials as soon as possible to allow enough time for them to be received. Orders can be place through the Suggest Library Purchases page or by including the complete bibliographic information in a reserve request.
- You are encouraged to contact your library liaison to review print materials for possible electronic alternatives before requesting that they be placed on reserve.
To ensure availability for the first day of classes, requests for new or additional print or electronic reserve materials need to be submitted by Friday December 12, 2025. Requests are processed in the order received.
If you have materials on reserve for fall that are needed for spring, email reserves@uncg.edu by Friday, December 12, 2025, to request that they be renewed. Materials for which there is no renewal request will be removed starting Monday, December 15.
If you are interested in placing materials on eReserve:
- We can provide accessible PDF format scans of articles and chapters from materials owned by the University Libraries and from sources that you own and provide.
- The portions of copyrighted materials that may be placed on eReserve are based on the reasonable limits of fair use under United States law. Allowable portions differ; please contact us regarding questions.
For your instructional film needs:
- Refer to the Libraries’ Streaming Media LibGuide for 24/7 access to thousands of films available to view in class or on your students’ own time.
- You can place Instructional DVDs on reserve or schedule them to be shown in class using our Film Booking and Delivery Form or emailing reserves@uncg.edu.
