Pedagogy of the Oppressed
by Paulo Freire

This book has greatly impacted me as a community social worker and community organizer. Working with social work students, Freire's writings have been essential in helping students understand the need for developing dialogue with community members, especially those who have been marginalized and oppressed. This text is also important for social work students in understanding how they need to check their own privilege and work towards ending oppression and working with communities towards liberation.
