I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
by Malala Yousafzai

I am where I am today because of the endless encouragement from my family and teachers. I am incredibly fortunate to have grown up surrounded by supportive people who value education for women – I was never told that there was something I couldn’t do because I was a woman. I found this book to be a powerful reminder that this is not the reality for millions of women today and that in some places, women are violently discouraged from pursuing an education. At the same time, the book provides hope that the world can change, even in the face of great oppression and hate. I also hope that those who read the book will feel empowered to speak out for what they believe, as the message is clear: change can be inspired by even a single person.
