He, She and IT by Marge Piercy

I choose this book because I resonate with the ideas generated by the author as well as the fierce power of the story. The book dramatically touches on many social issues including environmental concerns, technology, culture, hierarchical constructions and authoritarism, feminist and gender concerns, sexuality, and the dangers of creating intelligent and emotional beings. Yet the story is told with heart, in a brilliant and engaging way. While addressing these issues, the writing is incredibly human; Piercy embraces stories from past, present, and future while problematizing the worlds we create. The book opened my eyes to complex problems and the realities of living life without thinking about, or caring about the world we create.
