The Human Factor in Developing Africa by Senyo B. S. K. Adjibolosoo

I chose this book because my research focuses on strategic managemnt issues in emerging economies with special reference to Sub-saharan Africa. The book argues that the causes and consequences of the poor performance of organizations and nations in Africa is due to the lack of human factor. The human factor is described as the relevant human competencies, behavioral qualities, and personality characteristics which can be leveraged to enhance the efficiency, effectiviness and performance of organizations and nations in Africa. The book draws our attention to the importance of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (traditionally termed human capital) and the commitment and willingness to apply the human capital for the effective implementation of organizational strategies and development policies and plans in Africa.
