Patricia A. Sullivan took office as Chancellor, becoming the first female to hold the position at UNCG.

Joan Glynn was named Director of Alumni Affairs and Alumni Association Executive Secretary.

The gymnasium in the Health and Human Performance Building was named for Mike Fleming.

The All-Arts & Sciences Camp began for children ages 7-15. The program was designed to provide extracurricular learning and give participants a taste of the college experience.
