Weil-Winfield Hall under construction

Weil-Winfield Residence Hall opened. It was named in 1941 for Mina Rosenthal Weil, who established several scholarships at the College; and for Martha Elizabeth Winfield, a member of the Class of 1906 and a professor in the Department of English.

The College bestowed its first honorary degree on Judge Florence E. Allen of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals.

North Dining Hall - a wing of the Spencer dining hall complex - opened.
