Walking period in Peabody Park The 1896 Secret Society

Students strolled through the woods - in the area later known as Peabody Park - during "walking periods" each day.

A group of girls organized a secret society (sorority) with a Greek letter name. It was disbanded immediately when President McIver heard of it, since he did not approve of sororities on campus.

The first class to complete four years of study graduated.
