For this week’s Renovation Review update, we will explore the impact of last week’s snowstorm and how adjustments are made by construction crews during inclement weather. We have had several questions about renovation operations during situations like the one last week. Activities related to construction on the library tower site are always managed with a safety-first mindset, much like the management of wider campus facility operations. The addition of snow and ice to the job site creates a need for all workers to quickly ensure that areas remain safe for access and ongoing work. These conditions can result in more time shoveling and treating the job site, repairing issues caused by weather such as damage to fences and signage, and paying close attention to work going on in the building that may require special conditions in order for installations to continue. While we enjoyed seeing the snow on campus, everyone involved in the renovation project hopes to continue the work with limited weather-related interruptions.
