For this week’s update, we wanted to share a little about the work happening in the Jackson Library tower while UNCG’s holiday break takes place during the next few weeks. Our construction manager, Skanska, will work on opening up new doorways on the lower level of the tower, creating a more open flow between the older and newer sections of the building. The changes are also an important step toward improving spaces in the Digital Media Commons and toward creating the wellness-oriented rooms that will be located on the lower level of the tower.
In addition, work will be done to fill in doorways on the first floor of the tower side near the EUC Connector entrance. The space being worked on will clear the way for the creation of new first floor restrooms and the development of new tower classrooms which will be used for library instruction after the completion of Phase One.
This will be our last renovation update for 2025. We will return in January with more weekly posts for our readers. Until then, Happy Holidays from the UNCG University Libraries!
