All borrowers are responsible for managing the due dates of borrowed items, returning them on time and in the same condition as borrowed, and paying all associated fines and fees. Date due receipts are offered at checkout.

Borrowers can view their library accounts using My Library Account.

If there are Jackson Library items on your My Library Account that you think should not be there, or are you receiving overdue notices for an item you don’t have:

Fill out the Search for an Item that Should Not Be on My Account Form and we will look for it.

After beginning the search and if your library account is active, the item will be renewed so that you will stop receiving notices during the search period.

If you are a UNCG student and the charges are on your University bill, they will be removed pending the outcome.

The search period is 6 weeks, and you will be notified of the results.

Replacing items can save you money and make lost or damaged items available to others more quickly.

  • Rather than paying replacement costs, lost and damaged items may be replaced for up to 6 months after the due date.
  • Replacements must be pre-approved. Replacements for technology items are rarely approved.
  • Replacements of the same edition as the original, in new or very good condition, are usually approved. DVDs must be new, wrapped and have the same producers and actors as the original.
  • Once items are replaced, no refunds are given if the original item is later found.
  • Items purchased without pre-approval are subject to being rejected. To ensure that replacements are acceptable, before purchasing contact [email protected] or 336.334.5304.

For information regarding replacement of Interlibrary Loan materials, see our Overdue Fines and Fees information.

Payment of fines and fees are expected for borrower accounts to remain in good standing at the UNCG Libraries. However, whenever a bill is received for an item not in your possession or that you think has been returned, please do not make payment and contact the lending library immediately.

UNCG Students:

  • Fines and fees are transferred to the borrower’s University bill Mondays – Fridays.
  • Fines and fees should be paid to the Cashier and Student Accounts Office. Payments are not accepted in the Libraries.
  • Fees for billed items can be reduced by returning or replacing them (see above) for up to 6 months after the due date. When billed items are returned or replaced, credits are issued to the borrower’s University bill for the billed amount minus the associated overdue fines and processing fees. If items are replaced, no refunds are given.
  • Unpaid fines and fees may result in blocks on registration, grades, graduation, and transcripts.
  • For items borrowed directly from any of the libraries with which the UNCG Libraries have a cooperative borrowing agreement, the borrower is responsible for paying the lending library directly for any fines, fees, or lost charges incurred. If they are not paid within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the lending library and that library bills us, we will in turn bill the borrower the amount owed the lending library plus a $15 service fee.
