Borrowing Materials: UNCG Students, Faculty & Staff

Library Cards

UNCG students, faculty, and staff should present their current UNCG ID Card (aka SpartanCard) to borrow materials. ID’s presented with unrecognizable photos will require additional picture ID.

IDs are not transferrable, and may not be used by anyone other than the individual it was issued to.

Authorization to Borrow for Faculty

UNCG faculty can authorize others to borrow library materials on their accounts.

• Faculty should complete a Jackson Library Faculty Authorization Request Form for each person they wish to authorize.
• A borrowing expiration date (i.e. the last day the person is authorized to borrow in the name of the faculty member) for each person is required.
• When borrowing, authorized borrowers must present their own picture ID and provide us with the name of the faculty member.
• Borrowed items will be checked out on the faculty member’s account.

** UNCG faculty & authorized assistants may borrow some “Building Use Only” material for a limited time.

Renewals

All borrowers may renew general stacks and other specific collections materials online using My Library Account, in person at our Self Check Express machines with or without materials in hand, or at the Checkout Desk with materials in hand.

Renewing extends the due date from the date renewed, not the original date due.

Online renewals are not possible when:

• The borrower’s account has expired. No renewal due date will extend past the account expiration date.
• When specific items have been requested by other borrowers.
• Items have been billed for replacement. (Billed items will be listed under the Charges tab of online accounts and must be returned to the lending library to renew.)

Renewing online, at a Self Check Express, or at the Checkout Desk all count towards the number of times an item can be renewed consecutively.

Reserve materials may not be renewed online. 3-day and 1-week reserves may be renewed once in person at the Checkout Desk.
