The hanging mobile by artist Alexander Smoot located on the main level of the Jackson Library tower was taken down this week to be cleaned and stored while construction in the tower takes place. The piece will be reinstalled following the completion of Phase 1 of the renovation and will continue to be a showcase piece of art in the building for years to come. Two ladders and several tools were required to take down every piece, including the mounting hook at the very top of the skylight!

To learn even more about the mobile, check out this story from UNCG Magazine.

This piece was contributed by Will Cook, UNCG University Libraries Facilities Manager.
