Let My People Go Theater Documentary Reviews

The performance was truly outstanding, one of the best, if not the very best the Council has had the privilege of being associated with. I believe everyone in the audience appreciated as much as the Council did the extraordinary talents you have brought together in your cast and your crew. The cast was superb in every way, as they evoked multiple characters and emotional responses and handled difficult transitions of time and place. The music, the costumes and the set beautifully, subtely complemented the harsh and tender realities of the stories we were witnessing. All together a powerful experience for everyone lucky enough to be there.
-- Alice Barkley, Director North Carolina Humanities Council, 1997

Your provocative but dignified approach to this sensitive issue serves to remind us of the cathartic and transcendental nature of art, particularly theatre.
-- Rhonda Bellamy, Drama Chair, 1898 Centennial Foundation, Wilmington, North Carolina, 1998

I cannot begin to tell you how marvelous was the presentation of Let My People Go. I do not remember a more moving or powerful experience.
-- Alan Sasser, Greensboro College, North Carolina, 1998

The actors and actresses were excellent. The topic was of great interest and the discussion afterward led by Dr. Schweninger was extremely helpful. Our large audience was completely enthralled.
-- Marjorie Northup, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 1999

The troupe is the talk of the town. Those who saw it are still raving about the 'voices' - the power and wonder of it all. Those who did not see it are asking how to get you to come back.
-- Valda Ford, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, 2000
