Petition #20882129

Abstract

Jean Lesassier, a free man of color, states that Louis Chaperon, also a free man of color, is justly indebted to him for $1,150. In 1819, Chaperon purchased a tract of land from Lesassier for $1,200, providing two promissory notes as payment. Since then, Chaperon has paid $50, leaving a balance of $1,150. Lesassier prays that Chaperon be adjudged to repay the debt with interest and that the tract of land "be seized & sold to satisfy the Judgment rendered herein.”
