General Petition Information

Abstract:Duncan Harding became the administrator of the estate of his grandfather, Elihu Harding, when his father William E. Harding died. Elihu Harding left two slaves, Hannah, who "was allotted to the widow of the said Elihu," and Sally, who was kept by the said William. The petitioner asserts that his father purchased some of the other heirs' interest in said Sally, who now has a child. Harding prays that a decree be rendered for "a Sale of said Negro woman and child upon such terms as shall best secure the interest of said heirs." He further asks that the portions of certain heirs be paid to him, as the heir of the said William E. Harding.
