Andrew Y. Hampton was named executor of the last will and testament of the late John G. Coates. Now William R. Staley charges that Hampton has left the county, "pretending that he has given up his executorship" and neglecting to care for the estate and its slaves. Staley states that the slaves have "not sufficient food to support them," and that they have been "wasted and misapplied." Staley asks the court to compel Hampton to answer these charges and to take the steps necessary to secure the estate.
