Abstract
John Hill, as trustee of Lucy Hill, hired out a 25-year-old slave named Henry, valued at $1,000, to the Georgia Rail Road & Banking Company. The company agreed to be responsible for the slave's medical treatment, and to take him to headquarters in Augusta should he become ill. Hill argues that his slave became sick in August but was not moved to Augusta or properly cared for until October. As a result, the slave developed "incurable Dropsy" and died. Hill seeks $2,000 in damages.
Result: Denied.
