Hasting Jones contends that he has "sustained damage" of $200 from Joseph Catchings. Jones's brother Thomas and Catchings entered into a contract calling for Thomas to be Catchings's overseer to manage his crop and four slaves. Thomas Jones was unable to fulfill the contract and Hasting took his brother's place. He charges however that Catchings violated the contract by closing up "the house which was appropriated for your petitioner without any cause." Jones contends that Catchings intended to cheat him, and he asks that Catchings be compelled to maintain his end of the original agreement.
