Abstract

Joshua Clarke seeks permission to export and sell his 20-year-old slave Simon, who doth "Refuse to Render Reasonable Service," to "any of The Southern States." Not only has Simon failed to conduct himself as "a Good and faithfull Servant," but Clarke also fears that he and his family are "in Danger of being poisoned or other extraordinary harms."
