Abstract
Isaac Smart, guardian of sixteen-year-old Lydia W. Crabtree, asks permission to transport the slaves bequeathed to her by the late Caroline A. V. Martin of Montgomery, Alabama, to Florida, where he and Lydia reside and where the "negroes could be hired to much better advantage to the interests of the minor." Lydia is the principal legatee of the late Martin.
