Ladock, Peter, Jack, Rachel, Agness, along with Letty, Leah and Sabra, the children of said Agness, represent that they "were born Slaves in the County of Accomack and were the property of their late mistress Margaret Ker Robins who by her last will and Testament manumitted them at the end of the year 1815." They state that they "have been informed that by the Laws of this Commonwealth they cannot remain in the County of Accomack (among their relations & connections) and enjoy the blessings of freedom which their benevolent mistress bequeathed to them, without this honourable Assembly will pass a Law in their favour permitting them to remain." They therefore "pray that their case may be taken into consideration and that a law may pass granting their prayer."
