Maryland slaveholder Dekar Thompson seeks permission to bring his slaves into Virginia. Recently land located in Fauquier County has been purchased for him by the executors of the estate of a relative with the same name. He states that he could sell his Maryland slaves and purchase new ones in Virginia, but he claims that as a person who has "raised and brought them up," he is "attached" to his slaves "and they to him."
