John Hillen and Susan H. Johns, administrators of the estate of Stephen S. Johns, ask permission to sell the "upwards of twenty Negroes most of them women and children" belonging to Johns's estate in order to pay debts owed by the estate. They state that the slaves were mostly hired out by the deceased, many of them, outside of Baltimore County.
Result: Granted.
