Boyd represents "that in May 1826, negro man named Jessee, the property of your petitioner was charged with a rape on the body of Susannah Hatcher, for which he was tried, convicted & Executed.” Boyd therefore prays "that such a sum of money maybe allow’d to him as by Law he is entitled to."
