Abstract
Philip S. Smith, a St. Bartholomew Parish planter, represents that in 1795 "a Negro Fellow named Ishmael the Property of his Father Philip Smith ... was executed at Ashepoo for Felony." With "no application having ever been made in the Life Time of his Father for Compensation for said Negro," the petitioner prays "that the Sum allowed by Law, in Causes of such a Nature may be paid him."
