In his capacity as trustee over the property of Mary Harper, Joshua Barnes sold a rebellious and unruly slave named Jason out of the state for more than fifteen hundred dollars. Jason had become "So disorderly and rebellis that it became unsafe for him to remain in this community his life having been frequently threatened in an account of Spirit of insubordination and rebellion." As a replacement, Barnes purchased a woman and her child. He now asks the court to confirm the sale and purchase.
