Petition #20885104

Abstract

Onezime Louis Guidry, administrator of the late Selesie Savoie’s estate, seeks to recover a debt from Theodule Guidry. Onezime represents that, at an 1847 public sale of the late Savoie’s estate, Theodule purchased two slaves on credit for the total sum of $1,230. The debt was payable in three equal installments, with 8% interest, and it was secured with a mortgage on the two slaves. Onezime claims that Theodule refuses to pay the debt, although amicably demanded to do so. He therefore seeks an order of seizure and sale of the two slaves to satisfy payment of the debt.
