John and Sarah Brown, residents of Delaware, state that they "are intitled and hold in peaceable & Quiet possession a certain negro man slave named Job in the County of Caroline and State of Maryland." Citing the Delaware Act of Assembly that prohibits the removal of slaves "from the State of Maryland into the State of Delaware," the Browns ask that they be allowed to bring Job, "as their property and lawful Slave," into Delaware.
