The librarians at The University Libraries are available to provide instruction in research skills for students in any course and to collaborate with faculty on creating research assignments. We can teach students about materials and resources that are available through the library and on the web. We can also discuss researchstrategies and guide students in formulating a topic and situating a topic in a discipline, where appropriate.
Library instruction sessions are more effective if students have a class assignment that directly relates to using library resources and have a topic in mind before they attend the session. Please include a copy of the assignment so we can customize the session to your students' specific needs.
The University Libraries expects faculty to accompany their class to each library instruction session. This helps reinforce the importance of the session and allows instructors to answer students’ questions about the assignment.
The assigned librarian will confirm the appointment with the faculty member.
Library Instruction should be requested at least ONE WEEK in advance.
